FAQs

What is the dress code for your wedding?

As an homage to our home of Portland, we encourage you to be yourself and wear whatever you feel physically and personally comfortable in. This may be a traditional suit or cocktail dress, but it can also be a Hawaiian shirt and blazer with Chacos.

What will the weather like?

The Oregon coast is always prone to some wind and rain. We will attempt to plan for the event of rain accordingly. The average high tends to be around 62 degrees.

Will there be food? What about tiki drinks?

We are planning on easily-held snacks on the beach, including a traditional Pittsburgh cookie table. There will be a variety of Vorel wines, Oregon beers, and a couple-a batch tiki drinks to choose from.
When we reconvene in Astoria in the evening we will meet for dinner at Fort George and further festivities.

How else can I spend my time on the coast / in Oregon?

The limit does not exist! Let us know individually if you have questions or need recommendations, and we can talk your ear off for a while.

Really? A Thursday?

First of all, it’s Dunkel’s favorite day of the week. Second of all, it is in the tradition of Kathryn’s grandma Helen to get married on a weekday.

We understand that a Thursday is less convenient than a traditional weekend wedding, however we hope that you are willing to bear with us. If you cannot make it due to scheduling constraints we completely understand and can’t wait to see you another time!

What if the Pittsburgh Penguins are in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals at the same time as your wedding?

The wedding will be cancelled.
